Western Union Money Transfer
The fastest and safest way of sending money all over the world
The Bank offers the service of urgent sending and receiving money through the mediation of the American company Western Union. Western Union is one of the oldest world companies providing fast money transfer services across the world. Back in 1998, Splitska banka became the first Western Union agent for Croatia and granted, with the purpose of expanding the service network, sub-agent agreements to the following Croatian banks:
- Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank
- Istarska kreditna banka Umag
- OTP banka
- Erste & Steiermärkische banka
- Banco Popolare Croatia
Service and clients This service enables any individual to send money to another individual anywhere in the world where there is a Western Union agency. It takes just 10 minutes for the safety system to transmit the amount to anyone who urgently needs it: travellers and tourist because of unexpected expenses on foreign travels, students in foreign countries, persons on temporary work abroad, even persons whose documents or money got loast or stolen. Neither the remitter nor the remittent must be Bank clients.
Sending money trough Western Union Money Transfer
- Remitter fills in the Western Union Money Transfer Form at a Western Union location, providing the required information (amount, remitter and remittent details, optional message for the remittent, password in case the remittent lost his/her ID)
- Remitter pays the amount to be transferred (specified amount + service fee)
- Remitter receives the confirmation containing the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number)
- Remitter advises the remittent about the money transfer
Receiving money trough Western Union Money Transfer
- At a Western Union location, the remittent enters required data into the Western Union Money Receipt Form (remitter and remittent details, expected amount, city and state from where the money is sent, MTCN if available, password in case of lost ID)
- The money is paid against presentation of valid ID
Transfer amount, currency and fees Amounts are received and paid in domicile currency. If the remitter sends foreign currency cash or checks, the amount is converted into kuna in Croatia. The maximum amount to be transferred at once is 7,500.00 USD (higher amounts can be transferred with special Western Union approval). For Croatian citizens, the maximum amount is the equivalent of 3,000.00 EUR, according to the Croatian Foreign Exchange Act. Western Union Money Transfer Services are charged according the Western Union tariff, depending on the transmitted amount. Text message are charged 10 kuna for a 10 word message and 1 kuna for every additional word.
